Description
These four baby Mountain Goats are from two different moms -- two from each. They were so much fun to watch as they all jumped on the same rock and jostled and climbed on each other! I got up at 3:30 a.m. to drive to the top of the peak, hoping to photograph some mountains goats, and was thrilled to capture these cuties at the top of the mountain.
Mountain goats inhabit the Rocky Mountains and Cascade Range and other mountain regions of the Western Cordillera of North America, from Washington, Idaho and Montana through British Columbia and Alberta, into the southern Yukon and southeastern Alaska. ... Mountain goats are the largest mammals found in their high-altitude habitats, which can exceed elevations of 13,000 feet (4,000 m)."
Deer and elk inhabit the sub-alpine areas of the Mount Evans Wilderness, and bighorn sheep and mountain goats are common above treeline.
Photo taken on July 27, 2021, at the top of Mount Evans in Colorado, over 14,000'.
