Description
House wrens fill the air here with their loud, musical trill every spring and summer. Feisty little birds, they flit around everywhere, delighting us with their song. I always love hearing them, and was not disappointed during a walk on a nearby trail!
The House Wren was named long ago for its tendency to nest around human homes or in birdhouses, and they are fierce competitors for nest holes. The House Wren is very active and inquisitive, bouncing about with its short tail held up in the air, pausing to sing a rich effervescent song. Its song is long and complex, and both males and females sing. Various forms of this wren are found from central Canada to southern South America.
Photo taken on April 29, 2020, in Boulder, Colorado.

Fabulous photo!! We had a house wren last year who built her nest inside a hanging pot of yellow of yellow begonias. The babies inside had plenty of cover, but I had to be careful when I put the spout of my watering can inside the foliage to water it! L/F
