Description
These two small Northern Jacanas were bowing low and holding the pose for a few seconds, and I loved this pose of the two, almost like a mirror image. Note the enormous feet that allow them to walk on water by walking on lilly pads or other vegetation.
Fancy-looking bird of freshwater marshes, lakes, and ponds in tropical lowlands, locally in highlands. The super-long toes spread the bird’s weight over a large area. This allows them to walk across floating vegetation, especially lily pads. Jacanas often appear to be walking on the water itself! Bright yellow wings striking in flight, when birds usually give shrieks and other raucous calls. Flies with stiff wingbeats and glides, the long feet trailing out behind. They are also good swimmers and divers, and can journey through open water from one area of vegetation to another.
Photo taken on 12/7/2022 in San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico, in an estuary off the beach.

I am flabbergasted by the photographs you are able to take, and can't imagine being able to do this! You turn nature into art in an instant. I am gathering you are in Mexico, and hoping you are enjoying your time there (and the warmth!)

Thank you so much, Annie! Yes, we're in Mexico until mid-April and loving the ocean and the warm weather!
