Description
This beautiful male Mountain Bluebird and his sweetie were nesting in a nesting box on a friend's property in the mountains of Colorado, and I was delighted to be invited up to photograph him. He flew all over, singing, preening, and seeming happy with his life. This was my favorite shot -- I love the arc of his body, looking so beautiful!
The powder-blue male Mountain Bluebird is among the most beautiful birds of the West. Mountain Bluebirds are cavity nesters and look for holes in cliffs, trees or dirt banks, or nesting boxes during breeding season in the spring. You may spot them flitting between perches in mountain meadows, in burned or cut-over areas, or where prairie meets forest. They often seek their food by hovering low over the grass in open fields.

Such beautiful light and color! Love the rusty texture in contrast with the feathers! Just lovely! L/F

So very beautiful, especially against that background! Thank you for submitting this fine shot and correctly named bird to Wild Birds Of The World - A Nature Photography Group, where it is now featured on the home page. L/F
