Description
A Red Fox family was nesting in the culvert at the end of a friend's yard, and I was excited to be invited over to photograph them. But it was getting quite dark, and I still had not caught sight of them. I was just about to give up and drive home, when I spied this adorable family in my rear-view mirror. Hallelujah!
The Red Fox makes its home in wooded areas, prairies and farmland and even suburban areas, and is the largest of the true foxes. The red fox's resourcefulness has earned it a legendary reputation for intelligence and cunning. It is mostly nocturnal, although it will sometimes venture out in the day. Unlike other mammals, the Red Fox hears low-frequency sounds very well, so it can hear small animals digging underground and will frequently dig in dirt or snow to catch prey.
Photo taken on May 1st, 2018, in Colorado.
