Description
Burrowing owlets seen in northern Colorado from a tent blind. The young owls were awfully cute to watch! These little owls live in prairie dog burrows, sometimes even sharing the burrow with prairie dogs. They are predators, but don't eat prairie dogs (too big); instead catching insects, lizards, birds, mice, and other small tasty (to them) snacks.
