I'm excited to report that I've won the gold medal in this year's Peregrine Fund photo contest, in the Raptors Plus division of their annual Raptors at Risk contest! It comes with a prize of $500, which will go towards a new lens I've had my eye on!

The photo was taken during a Raptors in Flight workshop in the fall of 2016, and is of a captive barn owl. The Raptors Plus portion of the competition allowed captive bird shots. The owl's name is Cupid -- isn't that just a perfect name for this cute little guy?

Judi Dressler was chosen by the Boulder Art Association to show her photos at Cafe Aion in Boulder, Colorado, for the months of March and April, 2017. Judi displayed 10 framed 16x20" photos around the restaurant, including four photos of owls, a red-tailed hawk, a sandhill crane, a broad-tailed hummingbird, a snowy egret, two parakeets and two great blue herons. What an exciting opportunity! Judi had an art reception March 21st, with many visitors viewing her photos. The manager of the restaurant provided h'ors d'oevres, and many visitors also stayed for dinner and wanted to hear more about the photographs. The restaurant staff told me that my photos generated a lot of interest, with people coming in just to see them!
