Artist's Description
Aspen trees in a grove near Telluride, Colorado, on the side of the Last Dollar Road.
It was fall, and as a result most of the aspen leaves had turned yellow and many trees had already lost their leaves completely, but in this little grove, the leaves were still largely green. Possibly these trees were in a more protected area with less wind and more sun. I loved the sunshine and the way the sun cast shadows in front of the trees in this grove. It made me want to go in there and sit down and bask in the warmth!
An aspen grove is a single living organism with one underground root system. Even large groves of hundreds or more trees can share one massive root system.
