Great Blue Heron fishing in winter, with a Bald Eagle flying overhead. Cold winters are difficult for wildlife, as it is difficult to find food. Ponds and lakes freeze, making it impossible to catch fish, and small mammals stay under the snow. On this day, the ice had luckily melted enough for this heron to fish.
This image is a photo montage, created by merging more than one image.
Great Blue Herons and Bald Eagles usually stay the winter in Colorado.
