Description
A scene from a freezing cold winter in Minnesota. There is something so beautiful about the little bit of color and life amidst this vast emptiness...
From Wikipedia: "Winter in Minnesota is characterized by cold (below freezing) temperatures. Snow is the main form of winter precipitation, but freezing rain, sleet, and occasionally rain are all possible during the winter months. Common storm systems include Alberta clippers or Panhandle hooks; some of which develop into blizzards. Annual snowfall extremes have ranged from over 170 inches (432 cm) in the rugged Superior Highlands of the North Shore to as little as 5 inches (13 cm) in southern Minnesota. Temperatures as low as −60 °F (−51 °C) have occurred during Minnesota winters. "
Photo taken on February 20, 2019, in the Sax-Zim Bog in Minnesota.

I can really feel the stillness in this scene, Judi, such a wonderful photograph. I love how there's just a touch of warmth and color within the vast field of white. It's taken me forty years to realize that winter has its own unique beauty and splendor. L/F

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment, Michael. I used to ski in the backcountry and love winter scenes. You sure have found the beauty of winter, as evidenced by your very beautiful paintings!

Love the minimalism feel. Very beautiful with a great sense of expanse and vastness. L/F

A beautiful shot, and like you've said, the color blended in with the cold white is very pleasing. I, too, love photographing in winter.
