I love the light at dawn, when the sun's soft golden light warms everything in its path. These two lovely sure-footed baby Mountain Goats were photographed at dawn at the top of Mt Evans, a 14,200 ft peak in the Rocky Mountains.
Mountain goats inhabit the Rocky Mountains and Cascade Range and other mountain regions of the Western Cordillera of North America, from Washington, Idaho and Montana through British Columbia and Alberta, into the southern Yukon and southeastern Alaska. ... Mountain goats are the largest mammals found in their high-altitude habitats, which can exceed elevations of 13,000 feet (4,000 m)."
Deer and elk inhabit the sub-alpine areas of the Mount Evans Wilderness, and bighorn sheep and mountain goats are common above treeline.
