Description

Female Mountain Goat and her two babies on rocks at 14,200 ft at the top of Mount Evans in Colorado. I got up at 3:30 a.m. to drive to the top of the peak, hoping to photograph some mountains goats, and was thrilled to capture this sweet family at the top of the mountain.

Mountain goats inhabit the Rocky Mountains and Cascade Range and other mountain regions of the Western Cordillera of North America, from Washington, Idaho and Montana through British Columbia and Alberta, into the southern Yukon and southeastern Alaska. ... Mountain goats are the largest mammals found in their high-altitude habitats, which can exceed elevations of 13,000 feet (4,000 m)."
Deer and elk inhabit the sub-alpine areas of the Mount Evans Wilderness, and bighorn sheep and mountain goats are common above treeline.
